They get new things at regular intervals as denoted by the timer. The higher your secret stash skill the better that restocking will be (in the appropriate store section).

Right now, spawn points can be really far from a starting trader. If you want to allow this, I think there should be an option when creating a RWG map to either keep spawn points within something like 750m from a trader or to allow for a larger distance. Most players probably will not want to run long distances to find the first trader.

Ok I've heard several times over the last few alphas that each trader has their own specialty. But what I haven't heard with any degree of certainty is what each trader specializes in, and how that changes things. Jen for example supposedly has more medical supplies, but I really haven't noticed much difference between her stock and anybody else.
