I have an 1100 spirit and can go 136 miles before i have to hit reserve. I get better mileage on the highway. It all boils down to trade offs and priorities. Your 600 is a great commuter.

The owner's manual says the tank capacity is 3.43 gallons (including a 1.06 gallon reserve). That leaves 2.37 gallons usable fuel. If my ciphering is corect I got 36.75 mpg. This mid-range engine size gives you just enough power to allow you to ride safely on highways but not enough to get you into (too much) trouble. One of the most common complaints among Shadow riders is that the bike can feel underpowered at times. I'm pretty sure the fuel filter is under the left side chrome side cover. Follow the fuel line down from the fuel shut off valve on the tank and it should lead you to the filter. Make sure you turn the fuel valve to the off position. If you got the seats off, you won't have a problem with the gas tank. Go for it.
