I'm really really hoping someone finds a viable build for it. At the moment it's pretty much completely trashed by the LBG in Pierce and Sticky spam. There is a gimmick cluster bomb build thread on this sub but it's not really viable outside a really hard to pull off gimmick.

The nerf on Sticky Ammo as well as the increase in recoil on powerful ammos would definitely hit its damage performance compared to base Rise - but in a sense LBG is still pretty great to use.. Its much harder to build for, it loses effectiveness on smaller/faster monsters (and even on larger/longer monsters it often enters crappier hitzones as it pierces), and iirc it only gets 2 shots instead of 3 from rapidfire so you're only getting 1.4x damage at best instead of the 2 ...

Piercing deco is important. Since weaken lasts for 3 minutes now, you can weaken different parts and shoot through them. Lastly, since Pierce ammo's crit range is too far, you should always have mind's eye deco to bring it closer. The circles on your crosshair depicts your crit range.
Rapid Fire Up is better on Pierce 2s, because you're never going to have ammo issues on a hunt and its the much bigger damage multiplier. Definitely Rapid fire. To clarify the consensus, Rapid Fire Up is a 5%, 10%, 20% damage increase on Rapid Fire ammo, while Spare Shot is a 3%, 10%, 20% chance to not consume ammo.
Using hailstorm and building for pierce is an odd choice. If you want to go pierce then stick to the malzeno/shagaru/narga lines for rapid fire pierce 2. You'll need to find room for some salvo decos but your damage will be way higher. edit: I personally use the Malzeno lbg because walking reload feels so good.An offensive, elemental Pierce Ammo that is imbued with the dragon element. Unfortunately LBG Rapid Fire Pierce 2 outclasses HBG Pierce in this game right now. But, if you want to do Pierce HBG, either the Narga HBG or Barioth HBG are strong options.
