I think there's one situation where Kinetic Assault is the better of the two, and that's if you're running a melee build driven by item 80 at low player count; the initiative and versatile top action are just too good for the build. But even that build wants to go back and pick up Rock Slide anyway at level 5 or 6.

Cragheart is awesome because of the ability you mentioned and all the ones related to obstacles. You won't get that from any other class, but it shouldn't stop you from retiring your character.
