Nobody mentioned my favorite method to set valves so here goes. Put #1 to TDC on the compression stroke and adjut both valves. Turn the motor over 90* and do #8. Keep going like that through the firing order and you don't need to keep track of which ones are set and which one's are left. Like.

Since you have already adjusted the valves, remove the valve cover from the side that was loose, and measure the travel of that rocker and the other rockers.
