I believe it needs the other 2 wires hooked up for the body computer to know if the lid's open or closed, or if it's in 'lock' or 'unlock' position. I tried ohming things out, and checking voltage when I pushed the trunk release button, and lock/unluck, etc.JL Audio makes a STEALTHBOX w/Sub inside for $600 that is made for the malibu it fits in the right side of the trunk where the nets go so u still have the whole trunk space.
