I grew up showing horses around the country and have gained a little over 500 hours shadowing equine vets in the past 8 months. I also have about 150 hours volunteering in animal rescues and fostering sick dogs. You would need to always check every year to make sure you are on target as these change year to year. In general, you need as close to a 4.0 as you can get, and hours spent with a veterinarian in various capacities of the field is needed. Here's the back story. Our school has a multitude of fund raising events each year. While some are for various causes, most are put on by a particular class to raise money for said class.I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find an internship (especially for pre-vets/undergrads) that is paid. I've perused many an animal internship and can't think of one off the top of my head that is paid.
