I just wanted to tell you about my experience just so you won't have to go through the same thing. I decided to go with a Koso 170cc 4V kit with the 34mm Throttle Body.

Now that I have the BBK and the works and after the new 170cc BBK got broken in this grom will walk away from all stock grom and also some modified BBK ... Über-cool things. Because the Grom is such a blast to ride just about everywhere you need to go. And this year it’s better than ever, because we have three trims to choose from: the standard Grom, the Grom ABS with front-wheel anti-lock brakes, and the Grom SP, with a unique graphics treatment. And every Grom features plug-and-play body ... The break-in period is 300 miles and the first oil change is 600. per the manual. Also, let it gently warm up. On a brand new engine, never start it up then instantly blip the throttle. Sounds cool, awful habit. An aggressive break in will result in latent failures that won't show up until later in the engine's life.Lots of metal ends up in your engine during break in, especially if you are hard on it. I treated my grom almost exactly how the guidelines said and held off on all my mods until the 600 mile break in period. 15k miles later and it runs better than the day I got it. The engine size does not matter too much. When I swaped the engine on my ZX (Longitudal 2.8 I6) I keept it under 3000rpm for the first 10k miles; It is a manual, but this is actually a normal break-in period. You didnt say if you have a manual or auto, but if you have an auto it will be a little harder. The key reasoning behind not taking long trips is locking in a constant rpm and speed that isn't good. what you want is to try and vary the rpm/speed for the break in period. (give the engine a workout). Essentially do not use cruise control and drive like you stole it after the engine bay is nice and hot.
I really dont understand why people have to spread nonsense.....a stock grom wont go 70, period. Ive owned 2 groms and the best you can hope for from a totally stock grom is 55-60 mph I would say and thats being generous, assuming a lightweight rider, with some wind at his back going down a hill or something lol
