On USB2, it will work for maybe a minute or two, then freeze to indicate that it is disconnecting. It usually reconnects after unplugging and plugging back in, but then will do it again after a couple of minutes. I have the same issue with you. I have a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. It has a type-a port and a type-c port for the carplay. Weirdly, I tried all my type-a to type-c cables on my car. None of them activate the carplay, some of them I confirm it is a USB3 or data cable. I even tried to use a type-a to type-c adapter with a c-c cable.
