The 330 has one advantage, which is the stock forged crank. This crank will drop into any Olds small block (except the diesel block) with proper rebalancing. The article was informative, but the diagram for the Buick nailhead is totally wrong. The distributor is located at the rear and #1 cylinder is on the front right side of the engine. The firing order is 1-2-7-8-4-5-6-3 as indicated. The right side cylinder order is 1-3-5-7 and the left 2-4-6-8. Thank you for the otherwise excellent article.Seems that the "old" 18436572 firing order over-loads the #4 main bearing and bulkhead, while #2 is under-loaded. Swapping the cylinders around with the 351/LS firing order adds load to #2, removing it from #4, and evens-out the whole works. Danged if I can find that interview any more.
