As an offensive Paladin he makes a LOT of kills (he's always 1st or 2nd in my party in total kills) so his proc to heal the group from Strange Mercy goes off a lot. Resolve is good for frontliner and to avoid debuffs. But if your paladin isn't the main character absorbing damage, than you can live with a bit lowered res too. Paladins have the option to get plenty of armor, so deflection could be seen as less mandatory depending on what way you wana go with it. 3.
