The nurse I saw tonight checked my cervix after confirming I was in labor. She mentioned that I was dilated to 3 centimeters but her fingers could not progress further to the other side of my cervix. This statement confused me. I am currently 36 weeks pregnant. Could someone please explain this to me?May 10, 2017 · Dilation has progressed from last week. I'm 2cm at 36 weeks and I didn't dialated to that until 38 weeks with my first, I heard it doesn't really matter because you can stay dilated at that for weeks. lainiefitz Posted 08-17-17

Last pregnancy I was about 1cm dilated for 2 weeks before my daughter came at 38wks2days. This time around I am 34.5 weeks and 2 cms dilated, BUT my doctor said that my cervix is still 'long.'
