I've had a composite blade Leek in the EDC rotation for a while. It's seen a fair amount of use, and no bent or broken tip. The knife has seen a fair share of cardboard, zip ties, plastic pallet wraps, copper wire (24AWG used on telecom/networking wire), and even the occasional prying (using the knife as a staple remover for the copper wire staples on some larger boxes).

This is actually one of the cases where the pivot being stiff as hell works in its favor, since it prevents the blade from opening on its own to make up for the lack of detent. As for the pivot pin turning, remove the clip, insert a little piece of tape or even better a piece of rubber band, replace the clip and you should be good to go.
