Get you a good headset, like a really good one. It's a game changer. Keep your stamina bar managed well, don't be running around with an inch of stamina. Carry some epi pens with you, they're fantastic for making big flanks in fights. Big flanks win fights. I'm sure there's lots more but this is just some things I do.

Rust is just a huge commitment, you have to log on pretty much everyday so you don't lose your base. Gain some perspective bloody hell.

This allows for one back up food if you get low and still can’t find an animal to hunt. One back up liquid for if you can’t get to water quick enough to purify a pot with chlorine.

Get a map up (I like iZurvive ), and work out where you are by looking at roadsigns in game and finding them on the map. Get everyone to find their location, and decide on a meeting point. power lines are your friend. use them like highways. they generally offer a more direct route to the inland loot areas than taking the roads. use a map and run.

DayZ is more of zombie survival game than a survival game. Its atmosphere is peak post apocalyptic zombie survival. Its dreary, there zombies everywhere, people will beat you to death with a can of beans for your plumb. Modded servers a loads of fun and fit any play style, and the sheer variety of mods is insane.
