I noticed the other day while driving that the radiator fan was on. It seems to be on full blast too. The jeep isn't running hot at all. The temp needle never gets past half or even up to half way. When I start the jeep the fan is not on.

Try leaving the AC on it will turn the engine fan on Low and keep coolant temps down. The 35's and 3.73 is putting a strain on the motor too making it work harder to keep up to speed. 2016 Red Rock #31.

It's pretty consistently reading +/- 3/4 of max (dips a bit lower if I'm just coasting easy, spikes higher if I'm pushing hard up hill). The reason they did this is they wanted the oil to be hotter and the exhaust gas temps to be lower. By having lower exhaust gas temps they were able to run 20% exhaust gas in the cylinder on the compression stroke rather than the normal 10%. Believe it or not, this actually increased fuel economy by 5 to 6%.

They replaced the unit, but the Jeep still is running hot (230+ on moderate hill climbs). Remember, it never used to do this. The mechanic said it might be the thermostat. I had them replace the thermostat. No difference. Anyway, it is now September, and the JK runs right around 210 - 220 on the flat, but will get over 230 and more on hills.

When I start the jeep the fan is not on.Doing maths, the engine oil will expand by about 0.3-0.4qt between room temp and running temp. Note: the difference between MIN/MAX on the dipstick is 1qt. Check your transmission fluid level and condition. Also check for any obstruction of the transmission cooler. Check for mud, debris, bags or anything blocking the airflow. The purpose of a thermostat is to let the car get up to operating temperature and then open up to not let it get any hotter. It is the optimal temperature for the car. I tried them on two different occasions, and they increased engine temps for me. I took them off and boxed them up.
