Kawasaki vulcan 1500 starting problems.

I have a 2000 kawasaki vulcan 1500 classic that has a problem starting. I turn on the ignition switch and the spedometer lights up as well as the turn signal lights. I press the starter button and it does not turn over at all. If I keep pressing the button several times it may start eventually. If the FI light is staying on after starting, that signals a fault in the FI system which usually triggers a stored fault code. Here is a link to an online factory repair manual FI page.

I've also found it can be caused by the idle screw being set too low, causing the bike to run rich at idle. Lots of guys like that low, loping sound but the engine is tuned for 1,000 RPM's at idle, not 500 or 600.
