I'm replacing my IP on my 7.3 Idi (the motor is out and its a bigger injection pump then stock) I'm wanting to advance my timing 10-12 degrees. I have no clue where to really start on doing this task any advice would definitely help. this would explain the presence of engine oil in the. injector bore if the head was indeed cracked. Furthermore, if the valve repair was done on #8. that might explain the apparent piston damage/failure. 1. Location. utah. Actually, it seems that the zf5 uses a bell housing adapter to connect to the IDI, but the zf6 doesn't use one to connect to the powerstroke. I'll see if I can't dig up a pic. The bell housing bolt patterns are the same. Though it looks like the zf6 may be larger around the rest of the transmission.

As Calvin said, drain the oil so the area will be a bit cleaner and you're not fighting the oil trying to escape. Clean up the outside of the hole carefully for better holding and seal. But be careful there in case the surrounding area is weakened. I plugged a hole in my Trooper's radiator top tank years ago with JBW.

Reaction score. 804. Location. PNW. Imho, idi is better for 'heavier' fuel. Injector fouling is less of a problem since there is one spray hole, and the pre-cup design stays hotter. On the DI side, i believe (from my experiences) an injector tip with fewer, larger holes performs better with wmo.

Clip removed, you can now take the unit out of your vice or c-clamp, do not drop the accumulator it will want to fall off so hold on to it. Pull the accumulator off and let the extra fluid drain out. I suggest you get her good and hot then in neutral rev it to 2200 and read the pressure. That's how the manual says to do it.
